The Gatlinburg SkyLift Park has added more attractions that will make you want to ride this Gatlinburg tradition! In addition to the SkyLift, visitors can walk across the Gatlinburg SkyBridge and relax on the SkyDeck. After riding to the top on the Gatlinburg SkyLift, you will exit onto the SkyDeck to see incredible mountain views. The suspended SkyBridge is just steps away.
The newest addition to the Gatlinburg SkyLift is the SkyBridge. It is the longest suspension pedestrian bridge in North America, stretching 680 feet over a valley. At midpoint of the bridge, you’ll walk across 15 feet of glass panels that stand 140 feet above the forest floor. The SkyBridge is 5 feet wide, providing plenty of room to walk comfortably. You’ll see downtown Gatlinburg and the peaks of the Great Smoky Mountains.
Between the SkyBridge and the SkyLift, you can spend some time on the SkyDeck located at the top of Crockett Mountain. See views of the mountains and downtown Gatlinburg you won’t see anywhere else. There is a man made waterfall feature for another photo opportunity before browsing the gift shop, getting drinks from the bar or snacks from the cafe.
To get to these exciting attractions, you get to ride the traditional Gatlinburg SkyLift. After you enjoy the SkyDeck and SkyBridge, you will ride back down the mountain into downtown Gatlinburg.
History of the Gatlinburg SkyLift Park
In the 1950s, a local inn owner asked a ski lift constructor to build a ski lift on his property. A ski lift was purchased in California, disassembled, and brought back to East Tennessee. The lift was reconstructed where it stands today. The Gatlinburg SkyLift has gone through changes over the last few decades, but the nostalgia of riding this traditional attraction remains. And the new additions to the Gatlinburg SkyLift Park make it bigger and better than ever.
