SANDWICH AND BURGER SHOPS IN GATLINBURG AND PIGEON FORGE

WEBSITE LINKS TO RESTAURANTS ARE IN BOLD, GREEN PRINT

Going out for lunch is one of the simple pleasures of being on vacation. The Smoky Mountains are home to a number of restaurants where you can enjoy subs and sides.

Parton’s Deli

Parton’s Deli has been a fixture of the Gatlinburg Parkway since 1974. This sandwich shop delivers delicious food served with a smile. Parton’s Deli specializes in sub-style sandwiches that are heated in an old-fashioned steamer and dressed to order. Other highlights of the deli include their homemade chili dogs, coleslaw, potato salad, deviled eggs, and lemon pound cake. The restaurant only accepts cash.

New Orleans Sandwich Company

New Orleans Sandwich Co. brings a taste of the Big Easy to Gatlinburg. Owned and operated by transplants from NOLA, this restaurant serves authentic po’ boys and muffalettas. For the uninitiated, a “po’ boy” is a traditional Louisiana sub served on French bread and a “muffaletta” is a sandwich featuring a round Sicilian sesame bread, marinated olive salad, ham, salami, mortadella, swiss cheese, and provolone. In addition to these signature sandwiches, New Orleans Sandwich Co. offers other Cajun favorites, such as jambalaya and red beans and rice.

Hofbrauhaus Restaurant

Hofbrauhaus Restaurant is another one of the best sandwich shops in Gatlinburg. Tucked away among The Village Shops, this hidden gem is located above The Cheese Cupboard. Modeled after a quaint German pub, Hofbrauhaus celebrates its heritage with German beers, German potato salad, bratwurst, and sauerkraut. The most-buzzed-about menu item at Hofbrauhaus is the Super Reuben sandwich, which is served on a pumpernickel bread roll and features thinly sliced corned beef.

J.O.E. and Pop’s Sub Shoppe

J.O.E. and Pop’s Sub Shoppe is one of Gatlinburg’s newest eateries, but it has quickly established itself as a can’t-miss lunch spot. Named after the owner’s three children (J.O.E. is an acronym for James, Oscar, and Eloise) and her father (Bruce a.k.a. “Pop”), this great restaurant serves a variety of cold, toasted, and steamed subs. Popular sandwiches include the Philly cheesesteak, Italian sub, and the Buffalo chicken sub. Be sure to save room for dessert, because J.O.E. and Pop’s banana pudding is out of this world.

Old Dad’s General Store

If you’re planning to have a picnic in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, you can’t beat Old Dad’s. Located near the entrance to the park, this general store and deli offers freshly made sandwiches at affordable prices. Families that prefer to make their own sandwiches can also purchase deli meats and cheeses by the pound. The store’s friendly staff will even pack your picnic for you, taking care to separate the lettuce and tomatoes in Ziploc bags so they don’t get soggy.

Pigeon Forge Deli

Situated on East Wears Valley Road, Pigeon Forge Deli is a little out of the way, but it is absolutely worth a visit!.This mom and pop operation bakes all of its bread in-house and uses the highest quality ingredients available. Standout sandwiches include the meatball sub, chicken salad sub, and the pot roast sub. We also highly recommend trying one of the deli’s hand-rolled soft pretzels!
