The Smoky Mountains have everything you need for a dream vacation including world class theme parks and breathtaking views. The activities are endless in the area.  It can be hard fitting it all into one trip. To assist you having an amazing first trip,  these 6 must do venues in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge are a must.

1. Dollywood 

Your experience in the Smoky Mountains won’t be complete without visiting the Dollywood theme park. Dollywood has something for everyone — thrilling rides, family-friendly coasters, shows, shopping, and delicious restaurants! If you visit the Smoky Mountains during the summer, make sure to experience Dollywood’s Splash Country. If the summer heat has you more than warm, this would be the place to be.

2. Great Smoky Mountains National Park

The top experience you don’t want to miss is the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. With hiking trails, wildlife, fishing, picnicking and dipping your toes in a mountain stream, there is no better way to experience the natural beauty of the Smoky Mountains. You can hike to Laurel Falls and see a gorgeous, 80-foot waterfall, or share a picnic with your family in the fresh mountain air at one of several picnic areas.  Metcalf Bottoms and Chimney Tops Picnic areas are sure to delight every person in your group.

3. The Old Mill

The Old Mill in Pigeon Forge is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is one of the most photographed mills in the country! The giant water wheel harnesses the Little Pigeon River to power the mill. The Old Mill is a popular place to for dining, shopping, and  family events! Dine at The Old Mill Restaurant, watch candy making at The Old Mill Candy Kitchen, or acquire souvenirs for the folks back home from The Old Mill General Store.

4. The Island

The Island in Pigeon Forge is your one stop for dining, shopping and entertainment. The Great Smoky Mountain Wheel is a 200-foot observation wheel.  Be thrilled by stunning views of Pigeon Forge and the Smoky Mountains. You children can enjoy more rides, or browse the many unique shops, many designed just for children! At night is the best time to be mesmerized by The Island Show Fountain, which is a water dance and light show, choreographed to 14 pieces of music.

5. Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies

Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies is not your average aquarium. You’ll be able to interact with some of your favorite aquatic animals!  Or spend the night in the aquarium and sleep with the sharks! This aquarium was voted one of the best in the country, so a visit is a must during your Smoky Mountain vacation.

6. Gatlinburg Space Needle

For the best views of Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountains, you will not be disappointed by the Gatlinburg Space Needle. This 407-foot-tall observation tower offers unparalleled views. It’s also a great family attraction! After experiencing the observation deck, head down the elevator to play in Arcadia, Gatlinburg’s largest family fun arcade attraction. It has over 100 of the hottest games and the largest redemption center!
